The Hemodialysis Nurse Certification program is designed to prepare RN’s & LPN’s for employment in the field of nephrology. In addition to basic educational preparation as a professional nurse, nephrology nursing practice at the generalist level requires a specific knowledge base and demonstrated clinical practice level offered in our Kissimmee and Miami on campus program.
The Program will train students to work with patients who have end stage renal disease (ESRD/Kidney failure) and need help removing harmful substances from the blood stream. This course is based on the Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT) standards and after 4-5 months of clinical experience, the specialist will be allowed to take the examination. As of 2010, National certification is required to work in the field and this program will provide a minimum of 90 hours of coursework and 250 hours of clinical practice.
